Tecumseh HSSK50 5 HP Snow King Snowthrower Engine MTD Elect St, Lamp Coil PTO
This is a 5 HP Tecumseh HSSK50 engine with the extra shaft (PTO) that many applications like MTD call for. Also has the special stepped crankshaft and the proper pulley included in the sale along with the engine mounting bolts. This engine came from an MTD 24 snowblower. There is a charge or lamp coil wire connector present on this if you choose to run a light on your snowblower. Please see picture of small wire with white connector at end. Engine has had a complete carburetor rebuild just finished using a STENS high quality kit. In addition, a new fuel shutoff valve was installed, ROTARY brand, new clear fuel filter inline, installed right at fuel line before it goes into sheet metal (see pictures) and new fuel line clamps as well. This fuel filter is the good kind-sintered brass element that provides a higher level of filtering with today’s questionable gasoline for small engines. Carb was cleaned in both ultrasonic cleaner as well as with traditional carburetor spray and forced air in every orifice. The gas tank has been removed, washed out, rinsed thoroughly, and then had isopropyl alcohol final rinse. It is clean and without any foul substance. A new Champion spark plug has been installed, gapped to. The engine starts easily with the electric start, no unusual noises or grinding. It does not start easily if you choose to pull start it. Electric starter gets it fired up and running quickly without smoke, and only modest variation in speed level during throttle cycle. Engine has the non adjustable carburetor with fixed jets. Engine has some rust, missing paint, and the usual grease and grime. Does not appear to have had extensive use judging from the sheetmetal. One note: The recoil assembly has been replaced with a used component from a grey snowblower. The part has been painted black to match the engine cover. Finish is not perfect. Electric starter cord accepter has all 3 prongs present. Gas tank cap screws on smooth. Threads are good in engine base for mounting engine.
